For one, she's much older than a teenager, with a doctorate and published books under her belt. Although Discovery should stand separate from its young adult peers, there are times it's tricky to exorcise Stephanie Meyer comparisons from one's mind namely, Diana is the heroine supernatural fans dreamed of.
